Fox has done some shake-ups with their schedule, and the new X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, was moved to a June 07, 2019 release date. It’s original opening date of February 14th went to Alita: Battle Angel.

DEADLINE – Also, the next X-Men Dark Phoenix won’t open on Feb. 14 anymore, rather next summer in the June 7 slot. The trailer launched this week earning close to 8M YouTube views on Fox’s channel. Summer is not only a better date, but again, it gives the film a better shot to have a bigger opening in China. Why? The trailer clocked 44 million views in first 24 hrs of release online this week out of China.   Also, premium screens previously reserved for Gambit will be in play and provide an even bigger upside for the film. Dark Phoenix will be up against Illumination/Uni’s The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Lionsgate’s comedy Flarsky on that date.

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

20th Century Fox has shuffled some of their titles for this year and 2019. X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been pushed back to February 14, 2019 due to significant reshoots needed.

DEADLINE – 20th Century Fox is doing some major shuffling of some titles for this year and 2019. The release date for the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, which has been going through some speed bumps with its directors, has been pushed up from December 25 to November 2 — the original release date for the X-Men sequel Dark Phoenix. Fans of the comic book franchise will have to sit tight as that one will now open on February 14, 2019.

Finally, fanboys and fangirls will also have to wait a little longer for Fox’s horror-driven adaptation of The New Mutants (whose characters exist in the X-Men comic books). Originally slated for a February 22, 2019 release date, the pic will now debut on August 2, 2019.

Entertainment Weekly has released the first look images from X-Men: Dark Phoenix as they feature the film in their latest issue. Check out the one featuring Michael on set with writer/producer, Simon Kinberg!

The writer/producer, seen here with Michael Fassbender who plays Erik/Magneto, had been thinking about directing for a while. Finally, one of the X-Men team pushed him. “Honestly, the person who most really wanted me to direct was Jen Lawrence,” says Kinberg. “I give her credit or blame depending on how it goes.”
